Community Forum a Success!

Well, there you have it...the very first Diamond Bar Community Forum introducing the PUSD School Board candidates! It still amazes me, though, that after all these years that Cluster 4 schools seem to have less or sometimes ignored by the district, that it hasn't had a community forum in which it allowed it's families to be heard. Let's just hope that all 10 candidates present last night heard our cries for equalization of funds; our highly motivated students demand for IB, Fine Arts and more rigorous GATE programs; our plea to be established as school of choice and ultimately a district of choice by modeling our district after highly acclaimed neighboring school districts; and to permit it's community to generously contribute to Cluster 4 schools without the beaurocratic red tape that has been historically encountered in the past.

This is a pivotal moment for the future of our children's education! Though, all I have accomplished was to organize a first of many more forums to come, I hope that I have empowered our community with the opportunity to better decide whom to vote for. We can now vote beyond name recognition on a poster or lawn sign, but, rather vote for a candidate based on their vision for our schools and our children and the ability to make that vision happen.

The success of this forum will be realized with the formation of school board members that will have our unique concerns in their agendas that will ultimately be for the benefit of our children.

My utmost thanks to all that helped me tremendously to make this event possible. You know who you are and what you have done. My sincerest appreciation to our major sponsors: Councilman Steve Tye, Mandarin Taste Restaurant, Red Dragon Karate, and Starbucks. Your generosity certainly helped make this event possible. Thank you!

Now that we are better informed, let's make sure to vote on Tuesday, November 3rd.
