Just doing their job!
I realize in the midst of chaos, we tend to think very irrational. I, for one, can personally attest to that. In my haste to get my kids out of Diamond Ranch during the fire, I instructed them to walk out of the gym and intentionally ignore all instructions by the administrators and staff. That was wrong. And worse, my kids witnessed my defiance to authorities which obviously goes against what I teach them.
I am very proud of my oldest daughter who remained calm and collective. She reminded me that she must follow instructions to ensure their safety. As I write this, I couldn't agree with her more. For criticizing the administrators for doing their job, I'm sorry.
As for GSE having to make parents sign out their kids that afternoon, well, they were just doing their job to ensure that they can account for all the students. I know it's normal to question something we don't understand. That's understandable. As a parent, if you don't know your school's emergency procedure, please make it a point to be informed.
As for the firefighters and sheriffs, THANK YOU for your swift actions to ensure the safety of our children, our homes, our school, and our neighborhood.

Election Day!
It's Tuesday, November 3rd, Election Day. Please take the time to vote. You may think that you are only one vote and is not enough to make a difference. Together, that one vote can turn to hundreds, thousands, and maybe even a million votes.
So, go out there and make your voices heard. Take actions. Vote!

Halloween at GSE
Ghouls, ghosts, Frankenstein, witches, pirates, Sponge Bob, GSE's very own beauty contestants, and everyone in between walked the halls of Golden Springs and around the block for their annual Halloween parade to the tunes of Monster Mash and Michael Jackson's Thriller. Batman (aka Mr. P) stood in front of the office as he high-fived the students walking out. The parents were groovin' as they took loads of pictures of their children. The school was definitely in the spirit of Halloween this year as our dedicated volunteers decorated the school with black and orange streamers and balloons.
I enjoyed seeing the delight of the parents as they see the kids having a great time. Thank you to all the staff and students for participating.
See you all again at the school's next event.
